KCAC Pet of the Week: Archie

Tecla Metzel of Kane County Animal Control 7/21/2024 6:00AM

He's so little it's kind of easy for larger dogs to accidentally step on him.

At only 11 pounds and some change, he would be hard pressed to pull someone down the sidewalk, but he does pull a bit when he's on a leash. With a little training, however, he could learn to be the perfect gentleman as he proudly walks beside his new family on their evening walks.

His name is Archie and he's an all-white, neutered, Shih Tzu-mix, about 2-years-old. He was found as a stray. He had an owner, but evidently, they didn't want him anymore as he was never claimed.

With eyes like little round black buttons in his white face and a black nose that appears to hold up his droopy white moustache, Archie would much rather spend time with his humans than play with toys, no matter if they're soft, plushy or hard as bones. Running around outdoors and playing games is the perfect day for him.

If his new family is into hiking or camping, Archie is up for the challenge. He may be little, but he definitely knows how to be a best friend.

He seems to like other dogs, as long as they're small to medium and not so active that they scare him. Larger dogs are too big, especially if he accidentally gets underfoot. He will probably be great with kids because he's just the right size and has just enough energy to keep up with them. And he can fit perfectly on their lap when it's time to rest and recharge.

Archie wants a home with humans who will understand he's not a big dog. He might be small, but he can still be a great companion and a friend for life.
