Kane County Animal Control Pet of the Week - Jani
“Histories are more full of examples of the fidelity of dogs than of friends." – Alexander Pope, Poet
She can be a bit clingy, maybe because she's been let down by humans so many times.
Jani is a white and black, spayed 3-year-old Great Pyrenees and a very laid-back dog. She was found as a stray and eventually surrendered to KCAC. All she wants to do is cuddle and attempt to sit in your lap.
She enjoys going on leisurely walks and taking long naps as she snuggles up next to her person. She yearns to have a family where they will put her first and acknowledge her as a member of the family.
Although Great Pyrenees are bred as guard dogs, they are generally very loyal and devoted to their owners. They are not aggressive by nature, but can be extremely protective in certain circumstances.
And because they spend most of their time outdoors guarding sheep, they also are very independent in nature and thus, stubborn. Jani is no different which is why getting her trained is a step in the right direction for her new forever family.
She would love to have a brother or sister to go on long walks with as well as to cuddle and watch tv. That's why socializing this beautiful sweet dog toward other dogs is so important.
Then she will finally get that forever family that she so deserves!
