As snowfall moves through the area creating changing road conditions, the Kane County Division of Transportation advises motorists to exercise caution and provide ample space for plow trucks on the roads. Maintain safe following distances from other vehicles, particularly snow plows. Kindly avoid crowding the plows and exercise patience as the team of KDOT highway maintainers diligently work to keep the roads clear.
KDOT currently maintains roughly 740 lane miles of road in Kane County, which averages about 35 miles per snow route. 
Prepare for the inclement weather by assembling winter car emergency kits, verifying your vehicle has a full tank of gas, checking tire conditions, and by ensuring all essential fluids are topped off.
