Kane County Pet of the Week - Patti Powers

“Every white hair is one day of experience in being the very best friend you've ever had." – Jaymi Heimbuch, writer & wildlife photographer

Patti Powers. Her name says it all!

Found as a stray on Powers Road in Huntley, she is a 7-year-old smooth-coated Chihuahua-mix with small, dainty feet and a large personality.

Her tiny physique is actually her superpower. Small in stature, Patti has the ability to cuddle up close and personal with her favorite humans. She wedges herself into the slightest of spaces as she hunts for the best lap or coziest spot to settle down for one of her “power" naps. (See what I did there?)

Bring her along on a short walk with the family. Better yet, dress her up in her warmest outfit and carry her in a backpack or push her in a stroller bought just for her for those extra-long hikes. She won't mind as long as she gets to spend her time with her people. If there's another dog in the family, it won't bother Patti! In fact, if the other dog is as chill as she is, then the two of them will probably become fast friends.

At the end of the day, as everyone winds down, relaxing in front of the fireplace to watch their favorite shows, Patti will use her superpower to wiggle into her favorite spot and fall asleep, happily contented, knowing she is warm, safe and loved, a homeless stray no more!

KCAC Pupdate

Congratulations to Winn Dixie, the 1-year-old terrier-mix with the sweet and positive attitude.

When her new family came to take her home, Winn Dixie played it a little on the shy side, even trying to go back into the lobby where she probably felt safe.

With gentle prodding from her new dad and maybe a small realization she was finally leaving the confines of the shelter for a better future, Winn Dixie gave a quick look back at everyone and then crossed into her future.
