Kane County Animal Control Pet of the Week - Charli

KCAC's Adorable, Adoptable Pet of the Week is written by Tecla Metzel of Kane County Animal Control. 9/30/2024 5:00AM

“My relationship with cats has saved me from a deadly pervasive ignorance." – William S. Burroughs, American writer, The Cat Inside

When he arrived at KCAC, his medium to long black fur was extremely matted, mostly on his legs and behind his ears. He also needed a proper brushing because it seemed he hadn't had one for quite a while. Charli1cat.jpg

Once he was brushed, his black fur practically gleamed. The varying shades of black with gray that had been hiding under dirt and mats arose from around his neck to form a collar of gray.

His name is Charli, just Charli, without the 'e'. He was found outside of someone's home, which is what sometimes happens when “once owned cats" are allowed to roam outside.  The lucky ones lose their way and wander onto someone else's property.

KCAC staff think he's about 2-years-old. He's very outgoing, somewhat social, but he can play a little rough with other cats. He's never had anyone give him limits or boundaries or tell him “no." For this reason, he would probably do well with older cats that could teach him the finer points of feline subtlety. He probably wouldn't do well in a home with dogs.

To pet Charli is to fall in love with his softness. And he doesn't mind sitting with you and letting you stroke his very soft fur. He will definitely make a good television companion on a cold winter's night.

He loves toys, especially running through the crinkly tubes. In and out, in and out. You can tell he's playing a game of Mission Impossible in his mind because all of a sudden, he will stop his running just short of the entrance of the tube and quietly lie in wait for his next victim, so he can run out and pounce on them.

Charli most likely knows he's a good-looking cat because, occasionally, he will pose as though he's an actor walking the red carpet. With his goldish eyes and classic feline facial features, Charli throws off a look as if he's vying for a role in a film starring an elegant, handsome medium-haired black cat.

You get the part, Charli! You get the part!   Charli3.jpg
