Kane County Animal Control Pet of the Week - Piggly Wiggly
“The best way to get a puppy to do something is to make it fun for him.” – Cesar Millan, Dog Trainer, Behaviorist
She has more energy than any three dogs combined. Maybe that’s why her name is Piggly Wiggly—because she wiggles nonstop, especially when she first meets someone.
Piggly Wiggly is a 1-year-old, brown, spayed Pug and Chihuahua mix found as a stray. She doesn’t even weigh 20 pounds, but she sure packs a wallop and makes her presence known. And she’s so very happy to see you!
If there’s a word beyond “excitable,” then Piggly Wiggly embodies it as she jumps and spins her way into your heart. She’s just so happy when she meets a new person or even a new dog that might potentially become her friend; she can’t stand it! She especially likes saying ‘hi’ to all the people she already knows as well as those she’s meeting for the first time.
Squeaky toys are great, but she only likes them long enough to hear them squeak a few times. Then she leaves them on the ground while she rushes over to have whoever is available pet her.
Piggly Wiggly, or PW for short, is at a great age to begin her training—and she will need training! She has no concept of boundaries or personal space. She just knows she wants to be with whoever is holding onto her leash, as well as everyone else! Jumping on them or jumping at them is just like shaking hands for Piggly Wiggly.
Piggly Wiggly needs a family that enjoys daily activities such as walks, runs, and just playing in their yard with her. If they happen to have a brother or sister whose company Piggly Wiggly can enjoy, that would make it all the more special! She might even learn how to be a dog!
