Kane County Animal Control Pet of the Week - Midnight

“Animals like crows and black cats are not ominous at all; it is the men's superstitious mind which is the inauspicious one." Mehmet Murat Somer, Turkish author of crime fiction

It's time to put the myth of black cats as bad omens or bad luck to rest!

According to many Eastern cultures, black cats are a symbol of good luck and protection from the evil spirit world. If a black cat shows up at your door, it symbolizes prosperity in your future.

In Japan, if a black cat crosses your path you must say, “konnichiwa" in order for the good energy to flow into your life, according to Petplan's website.

Keeping the positive vibes going, we at KCAC are thrilled to offer Midnight, a 3-year-old, black Domestic Shorthair, for adoption.

Midnight isn't a small cat by any means. A little over 12 pounds, he knows he has to lose some weight so he can transform into the lithe panther-like feline he envisions himself to be. He's working hard at getting the weight off and hopes his new family will continue his fitness regimen.     Midnight1.jpg

All it takes is one look at Midnight and you'll know how special he is. His bright green eyes and sweet face light up a room as he attempts to nuzzle whoever is available and willing to give him all the petting he wants. He'll even fall on the floor and roll over for those stomach scratches.

There's no competition with other cats either because Midnight gets along wonderfully with other felines.

A warning, though. Be careful when you come to visit him. He will put a spell on you!

Fill up the balloons, light the fireworks and sing at the top of your lungs!

It's been a long time coming, but we want to give a big congratulations to Percy, the extremely sweet 1-year-old black and white pit-bull-mix originally found as a stray!

Percy found his forever home after waiting months for just the right person.

In the end it was love at first sight, literally. During the first meeting with his new dad, Percy stared deeply into his eyes after first climbing on a chair next to him, as if to say, “I'm your best boy from this moment on!" That's all it took!

We will miss you Percy, and you deserve all the good things that await you for the rest of your life!
