Kane County Announces New Seasonal Schedule for Aurora's Saturday Recycling; Two Special Recycling Events in November
More than 2,400 Kane County residents attended countywide recycling events at the St. Charles location on Randall Road this year. The events, focused primarily on confidential document shredding and paint collection, have resulted in 30 tons of paper, 1,700 gallons of latex paint, 960 aerosol cans, and 106 small propane canisters being safely recycled.
There are two last special events in the coming weeks.
Special fall events:
• Pumpkin Smash, Pushing the Envelope Farm Location: 1700 Averill Rd., Geneva Date and Time: Saturday, Nov. 5, 9:00 a.m.- Noon. Rain or shine. Accepting: Pumpkins (whole, carved, painted), miniature gourds, corn stalks/decorative corn arrangements, hay bales (please remove any plastic or metal structure or binding from arrangements) Cost: Free
• Campaign Sign Recycle, Government Center and County Recycling Centers Dates and Times: Between the midterms and Nov. 18, we will accept signs at the Batavia and West Dundee Recycling Centers. We will also have open hours at Government Center on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 18 and 19 for drop off. Stay tuned for more info. Accepting: Corrugated plastic signs and their metal frames from the general public, candidates and campaigns. Cost: Free
Kane County will continue to run drop off locations for many household materials including electronics and textiles throughout the fall/winter seasons.
The year-round recycling sites include:
• Batavia, Fabyan Parkway (former Juvenile Justice Center (Location: 517 E. Fabyan Parkway, Batavia Hours: Hours are M-F 8:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.; Check website for Holiday closures. Accepts: Electronics, clothing and home textiles, shoes and clothing accessories, books (soft and hardcover) paper and shredded paper, corrugated cardboard, scrap metal, large appliances (without coolant), aerosols, camp-size propane tanks. Costs: Televisions and computer monitors $25-35 ($25 for screens under 21 inches measured diagonally, and $35 for screens 21 inches and above), aerosol items $1, propane tanks $3. Cash and card accepted on site. All other items free.
• West Dundee, Public Works Location: 900 Angle Tarn, West Dundee Hours: Hours are M-F 7:00 a.m. -3:00 p.m.; Check website for Holiday closures • Accepts: Electronics, clothing and home textiles, shoes and clothing accessories, books (soft and hardcover) Paper and shredded paper, corrugated cardboard Costs: Televisions and computer monitors $25-35 (priced by screen size - see above entry for details), Cash and card accepted on site. All other items free.
• Elburn, Electronic Waste Center (independently operated by LRS ) Registration required before drop off, for this location only.

Hours: M-F 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Accepts: Electronics only. See LRS website for guidance on item acceptance.

Kane County also offers a Saturday only recycling site in Aurora;
• Aurora, Ace Hardware on Lake Street Location: 994 N. Lake Street, Aurora NEW Dates and Hours: Changing to first Saturdays monthly starting November 5 from 9:00 a.m. until Noon and thereafter. Accepts: Electronics, clothing and home textiles, shoes and clothing accessories, books (soft and hardcover) paper and shredded paper, corrugated cardboard, scrap metal, large appliances (without coolant), aerosols, camp-size propane tanks. Costs: Televisions and computer monitors $25-35 (see first above entry for details), aerosol items $1, propane tanks $3. Cash and card accepted on site. All other items free.
