Overnight Reconstruction to Begin at Orchard Road and U.S. 30

Kane County Connects Staff 10/12/2022 2:00PM

Paving of the extended intersection of Orchard Road and U.S. Route 30 will occur during nighttime hours to reduce the impact on the motoring public. Temporary nighttime lane closures will begin this week on both Orchard Road and U.S. Route 30 and are expected to last for approximately 1 to 2 weeks, weather permitting. Crews will be paving at night from 8:00 pm until 7:00 am Monday thru Saturday nights to minimize construction impacts to daily daytime traffic along these busy corridors.

Both Orchard and U.S. 30 will remain open during this night time construction, with work including temporary daily nighttime and/or daytime lane closures and flaggers.

This intersection reconstruction improvement will add lanes, update traffic signals, and improve the existing multi-use path. Targeting completion of roadway improvements is expected by the end of 2022, which will be weather dependent. Any remaining work including Landscaping and Permanent Traffic Signal Installation may occur in 2023.

Visit the KDOT Traffic Advisories webpage for more information on road closures, detours, and active KDOT projects.

Motorists should expect delays while traveling through the work areas, consider alternate routes and expect additional commute time. Motorists are asked to reduce their speed, watch for construction workers and vehicles entering and leaving the site and obey flaggers and traffic control devices. It is illegal to talk or text on a cell phone while driving.
