“Freedom is not free — It must be earned and preserved by each succeeding generation."  That's the inscription on the Kane County Veterans Memorial located on the Kane County Government Center Campus in Geneva.

In 1997 a proposal was made to honor the men and women of Kane County who served in the United States Armed Forces with a permanent memorial.  It was dedicated on Veterans Day, November 11, 2004.

The Kane County Veterans Memorial is a symbol that recognizes the sacrifices citizens from Kane County made to protect the nation from the Spanish/American War through current conflicts.  Their names appear on the Memorial's Wall of Honor.
