Monthly Report – January  2025


(Construction letting dates dependent upon land acquisition completion)

  1. Bunker Road Extension – Keslinger Road to LaFox Road

    • Included in the County’s long-range transportation plan since 2004 and identified in the late 1990s as a key improvement to reduce congestion and enhance north/south connectivity.
    • The extension incorporates an underpass of the UPRR tracks (constructed during the Metra West Line extension in 2006) and includes a roundabout at Bunker and Keslinger Roads.
    • Bids opened in November 2024; construction will continue through the summers of 2025 and 2026.
  2. Dauberman Road/Meredith Road Realignment

    • Phase I (PE I) is underway to determine the optimal realignment south of Keslinger Road. Multiple alignments are being evaluated.
  3. Fabyan Parkway (IL 31 to IL 25)

    • A Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) study completed in 2023 provided feasible design alternatives for intersection improvements at Fabyan and IL 31.
    • PE I is in progress to address necessary improvements, including the Fox River Bridge and the Fabyan/IL 25 intersection. Bicycle and pedestrian accommodations will also be considered.

  4. Fabyan Parkway at Settler’s Hill and Kingsland Drive

    • Phase II (PE II) is underway for intersection and roadway improvements, including widening for auxiliary turn lanes and ADA upgrades.
  5. Galligan Road (Binnie Road to Freeman Road)

    • PE I is in progress for safety and capacity improvements, including potential roundabouts, pavement widening, drainage enhancements, and future multi-use path construction.
  6. Kirk Road over UPRR, Metra & Tyler Creek

    • The existing 18-span bridge will be replaced with three single-span bridges and retaining walls. PE II and ROW acquisition are ongoing.
  7. Longmeadow Parkway Bridge Corridor

    • New alignment and bridge construction over the Fox River.
  8. Tree Growing Contract

    • Plan preparation is nearly complete, with a construction letting targeted for 2025.
  9. Montgomery Road at Howell Place

    • PE I/II is underway for intersection improvements, including widening, permanent signals, ADA enhancements, and reconfiguration of commercial entrances.
  10. Plank Road (Romke Road to Brier Hill Road)

    • PE II is in progress for federally funded safety upgrades, including shoulder widening, rumble strips, reflective markers, and ditch grading.
  11. Plank Road (West County Line Road to Engel Road)

    • PE I is underway for similar federally funded safety enhancements.
  12. Randall Road at IL 72 Intersection Reconstruction

    • PE II is in progress to expand capacity and improve pedestrian safety, targeting an April 25, 2025, IDOT letting.
  13. Randall Road at Big Timber Road Intersection Reconstruction

    • PE II is underway for capacity and safety improvements, including a third through lane, reconfigured turn lanes, and a 10-ft multi-use path.
  14. Randall Road at US 20 Interchange Improvements

    • A PEL study completed in 2022 addressed increased traffic volumes and access needs. Phase I engineering is now in progress, focusing on a turbine-style interchange.
  15. Randall Road over I-90 Interchange

    • Following a 2021 PEL study, PE I is in progress, refining the preferred alternative. Public comments have been incorporated. Project website: Randall Over I-90.
  16. Randall Road at Hopps Road and over CNRR

    • PE II and ROW acquisition are underway for intersection realignment and a grade-separated crossing over the CNRR.
  17. Randall Road Multi-Modal Improvements

    • PE I is in progress for 9.4 miles of improvements, including off-road shared-use paths, sidewalks, and enhanced pedestrian crossings. Project website: Randall Road Multi-Modal.
  18. Randall Road at Highland Avenue

    • PE I is underway to expand Randall Road to three lanes in each direction, with urban cross-section upgrades and pedestrian/bike path additions.
  19. Tyrrell Road (Raymond Road to Mason Road)

    • PE I is in progress for modernization and safety improvements, including multi-modal connectivity.
  20. Various Engineering Projects
