Kane County Animal Control Pet of the Week - Meet Jaga

KCAC's Adorable, Adoptable Pet of the Week is written by Tecla Metzel of Kane County Animal Control. 11/24/2025 8:00AM

“Cat's eyes have the power to speak a great language. You can understand it only if you love them." – Martin Buber, Austrian-Israeli philosopher

They come in all shapes, sizes and colors; little kittens found in a forest preserve, each one the epitome of unbridled energy.

Nothing slows them down or stops them in their tracks. They chase, play and throw themselves off cat towers made for climbing and then run back around to do it all over again.

Visitors beware! Nothing can stop “the stampede of kitten fur-balls" as they run full tilt towards you. It seems you're on your way to becoming a human cat tower as they hike up your pant leg, insist you pick them up and crawl onto your shoulders for a midday nap.     jaga2.jpg

Among the kitten ninjas is Jaga, a 15-week-old spayed black and white Domestic Shorthair. Her face is a mask of black, evenly drawn around her eyes. Her whiskers protrude from the white around her mouth as a swatch of black gently spreads up her nose, heading towards her forehead to fill in the pattern. It's easy to imagine an artist's paint brush giving one final stroke to complete an already perfect kitten.

Jaga is all kitten. When she's not running or climbing or practicing her tightrope skills across tops of cabinets, she's power napping on someone's lap or finding a cat toy to scoot across the floor.

She will keep her new owners entertained with her silly antics all day long. And at the end of the day, when everyone settles down to take a well-deserved calming breath, Jaga will attempt to spread herself across everyone's lap in a bold move to make sure no one ignores her.

Jaga definitely needs her fur-ever family to come find her as soon as possible!
