Aurora Food Pantry to Hold 95.9 Radiothon Fundraiser and After-Party

Kane County Connects Staff 6/30/2022 11:00AM

On Friday, July 8, 2022, Aurora's largest food pantry joins 95.9 The River, asking for community support to ensure no one goes hungry in the Fox Valley this summer. One in eight children in Illinois face hunger.

Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry is combining its two largest fundraising events, the Radiothon and Gala, to now host the 'Radiothon Pack the Pantry Party", a 13-hour live radio broadcast from multiple locations, followed by the Pack the Pantry after- party.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of local businesses and individuals, for every dollar donated to the Radiothon by the public, our donors will give an additional two more dollars. That means your $40 donation becomes $120 thanks to the match.

The pantry staff will be in-studio and on-air that morning from 6 - 10 a.m. Then, the entire community is invited to meet their favorite 95.9 The River radio personalities on Friday, July 8 at the following locations:

  • Spartan House | 11:00 a.m. –3:00 p.m.
  • Ballydoyle -Pack the Pantry Party | 4 - 8 p.m.
(Appetizers, cash bar, raffle, silent auction and more will be at the party)

The Aurora Food Pantry feeds more than 700 families every week who would otherwise go hungry. And now, due to inflation, the pantry has seen a 30 percent increase in those needing the pantry's services. Community-wide support is needed to ensure all people have access to healthy, nutritious food, and hunger doesn't take the summer off.

Summertime is when pantries have the least amount of food in stock. After school ends, students in- need may not have transportation to summer meal programs while family members are at work. These families rely on Aurora's food pantries for extra support when students are at home.

It's easy to make a big impact by supporting the Radiothon and having your gift go three times as far. Online donations can be made by visiting ourfundraiser.events/aurorafoodpantryradiothon. Donations by check may be mailed to Aurora Food Pantry, Attn: Radiothon, 1110 Jericho Road, Aurora, IL 60506
