Kane County Drug Court to Host May 8 Graduation
The Kane County Drug Rehabilitation Court will be celebrating the graduation of fifteen participants on May 8, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. at the Kane County Branch Court. The ceremony will mark their successful completion of an intensive judicially supervised treatment focused probation.
Treatment courts, like the Kane County Drug Rehabilitation Court, reduce correctional costs, protect community safety and improves public welfare by restoring justice involved individuals to useful citizenship. Participants are required to complete substance abuse treatment along with any other treatment recommended by clinicians. They are regularly and randomly drug tested, appear in court frequently for the judge to review their progress, are subject to home visits, and keep in regular contact with their probation officer. Additionally, participants are required to work, be enrolled in school, or perform community service. Participants are rewarded for doing well and sanctioned for failing to meet their obligations. Research continues to show that for reducing drug use and recidivism drug courts have better results than jail, prison, or regular probation, and greater results than treatment alone.
The graduation will include testimonials from two of the graduates, a video presentation to highlight the incredible changes in the graduates' lives, and an award for outstanding contribution to the Kane County Specialty Courts. The public is invited to join the graduates' friends and family to celebrate this milestone event at the Kane County Branch Court, 530 S. Randall Road, St. Charles, Illinois, 60175.
