Kane County Employees Celebrate Bike to Work Day May 19, 2023
Rain didn't stop Kane County employees from biking to work on National Bike to Work Day.
Kurt Lebo, Spatial Solutions Officer, and Jodie Wollnik, Director of the Department of Environmental and Water Resources, marked National Bike to Work Day by pedaling more than 12 miles combined to work this morning!
Lebo and Wollnik both bike to work regularly.
“I like to bike to work because it is great exercise and because choosing to bike over driving reduces carbon emissions and promotes the County's sustainability goals," Wollnik said.
Lebo said he has always commuted by bicycle, but only regularly/frequently during the past three years.
“Why do I ride my bike to work? You can't commute by running and if you could - I hate running. When my three college age kids are home for the summer there is no other choice! Kidding aside, I would commute regardless of the car situation, but maybe not in the rain like today."
Another employee, Database Administrator Jon Kloese, also rides his bike to work frequently and Kane County Division of Transportation (KDOT) Director of Transportation Carl Schoedel rides daily.
