It's prime apple picking time in Illinois so dust off those apple recipies and begin making new family memories at apple orchards throughout Kane County.

When choosing the perfect apple, the University of Illinois Extension recommends looking for those that are firm, smooth and without cuts or bruises. Apples may also be stored for up to three weeks refrigerated in a plastic bag.
