Kane County Animal Control Pet of the Week - Drifloon
“Look into the eyes of a cat for a moment. Your gaze will flicker between recognizing another being, and staring into a void." – David Wood, Professor of Philosophy at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, author of If a Cat Could Talk
It took him a couple of days to calm down once he was brought to KCAC. As cute as he was, he was just as skittish and maybe just a tad ticked off at his lot in life.
After a couple of days of giving him time to get his bearings, he started to warm up to his new surroundings and became a bit more social. He even started palling around with best buddy, Awesome Jim. Wherever Awesome Jim goes, so does Drifloon, a 7-month-old, neutered male all gray Domestic Shorthair.
He's cute as a button with the classic look of a gray panther, but his golden wide eyes give him away. That's when you know he's just a kitten, a baby wanting to act all grown up.
For a kitten found as a stray, Drifloon has risen to the occasion of his circumstances. He has become more social, even wanting to interact with people once he was neutered. Still playful, still clinging to Awesome Jim, he's gradually learning to find his way through life.
His name Drifloon comes from the world of Pokemon and is represented as a balloon-like figure. Drifloon, the kitten, keeps his feet firmly on the ground and maintains his suspicions of the world, although he is becoming more and more open.
If there are other cats around him, he sits back and allows them to take center stage. Awkward Jim is his mentor while Drifloon is AJ's full-time shadow. Never far from each other, the bonded pair spend their days supporting each other and enjoying their surroundings.
It would be ideal if the two best friends could get adopted together. However, if it isn't possible and the prospective family has another cat that Drifloon could bond with, then that might work out as well.
