Kane County Expands Collection of Hard-to-Recycle Items

In partnership with Flat Can Recycling of Elburn, Kane County Recycles has expanded its list of accepted items at the County's permanent recycling location in Batavia (517 E. Fabyan Pkwy.) to include several hard-to-recycle household items. The newly accepted items are: 
  • Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors 
  • Child car seats 
  • Strollers 
  • High chairs 
  • Ride-on toy cars (both self-propelled and battery-powered) 
For strollers, high chairs, and toys in good condition and not recalled, consider reuse options. However, car seats and smoke/CO alarms generally do not have safe reuse options. Fees for recycling these items apply.
