As students return to school, the Kane County Regional Office of Education (ROE) is preparing to begin a fall tradition. Each September, high school students across Kane County are invited
to take part in the Student Photography Contest through the ROE.
This 10-week competition celebrates the creative talents of students as well as the knowledge handed down by instructors. Each week, entries are reviewed by staff at the ROE, with 10 being selected for publication.
“This competition drew over 2,000 submissions last year. It was remarkable to see the enthusiasm from students and staff,” said Patricia Dal Santo, Regional Superintendent for Kane County. “The talent these young people display never ceases to amaze us. We make the winning photos part of the decor at our office each year, so we are constantly reminded of the effort the participants put into their craft.”
The contest will run from Monday, September 16 - Monday, November 18, with a reception to follow on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at The Dock at 150 First Street, Batavia, Ill. All featured photos from the contest will be on display, while select photographers will be recognized with awards from Dal
Santo and other representatives from the ROE.
Interested high school teachers should contact Kourtney Lipps, Communications/Website Coordinator with the ROE, at klipps@kaneroe.org to participate. More information can be found at kaneroe.org/student-photography-contest.
