This month, the Kane County Regional Office of Education (ROE) hosted three training sessions designed to prepare school districts and emergency responders for effective family-student reunification during a crisis.
The training sessions, based on the efforts of the I Love U Guys Foundation, covered a wide array of topics crucial for crisis management, including the establishment of reunification sites, communication strategies, and coordination between school district personnel and emergency response teams. These simulations and exercises are tailored to reflect real-life scenarios, ensuring that participants gain hands-on experience and are well-equipped to handle actual crisis situations.
Among the key participants are representatives from the Kane County Office of Emergency Management. Their involvement help to ensure the protocols and procedures developed during the training are aligned with countywide emergency management strategies thereby building a safer environment for students, educators, and families.
