The Kane County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) recently participated in the Illinois Emergency Management Agency & Office of Homeland Security Annual Training Summit in Springfield. At the conference, OEM Director Scott Buziecki and Deputy Director Jon Mensching were awarded professional development certifications.

Mensching earned his Illinois Professional Development Series (PDS) certificate, an introductory-level credential achieved by completing approximately seven online and six in-person training courses.

Buziecki received the Illinois Professional Emergency Manager (IPEM) certificate, the highest level of emergency management certification in Illinois. This prestigious designation requires extensive training, practical experience, and significant professional contributions. It is also a job requirement for Buziecki and must be renewed every three years.

These achievements underscore the Kane County OEM's commitment to maintaining high standards in emergency management and preparedness.
