Kane County Health Department Partners with Kane County Cougars to Promote Opioid Overdose Prevention Efforts

The Kane County Health Department (KCHD) is pleased to announce a new collaboration with the Kane County Cougars to advance efforts in opioid overdose prevention. This partnership is a significant step towards raising awareness and providing vital resources to combat the opioid crisis in our community.

This summer, KCHD and the Kane County Cougars will join forces to educate fans about the dangers of opioid misuse and the importance of overdose prevention. By leveraging the Cougars' platform and wide-reaching influence, this initiative aims to share important information and lifesaving tools with more Kane County residents.

Key initiatives of the collaboration include:

• Public Awareness Campaigns: During home games, the Cougars will play a video from KCHD's Your Story Matters communications campaign, which encourages anyone who is impacted by the opioid epidemic to visit overdoseinfo.org for support and resources.
  
   

• Training and Resources: KCHD will provide training sessions for Cougars staff on the administration of naloxone so they can be prepared should an overdose emergency arise.
  
   

• Community Outreach Events: KCHD staff will be on hand at Northwestern Medicine Field for the July 30th and August 30th home games to distribute naloxone, the opioid overdose-reversing nasal spray for free to anyone who wants it, and provide attendees with support services information.
