Kane County Natural Hazard Mitigation Planning 2.0

Recently, the Kane County Natural Hazard Mitigation Committee held its semi-annual update meeting. The committee consists of Kane County staff and representatives from Kane County municipalities who participated in developing the Kane County 2024 Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan. This plan identifies opportunities to mitigate—or reduce the threat and impact of—future hazards from disasters such as floods and tornadoes.

Communities that participate in and adopt the plan become eligible for federal mitigation grants. Studies show that every dollar spent on disaster mitigation saves up to $5 in future disaster costs.
