Kane County Sheriff Warns of Counterfeit Arrest Warrant Scam Targeting Residents

The Kane County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of a new fraudulent scheme targeting residents in Kane County and neighboring towns. This scheme involves the issuance of counterfeit arrest warrants. Although there are several indicators that these documents are fake, individuals who receive one should verify its authenticity by contacting the Sheriff’s Office directly.    

It’s important to note that no legitimate law enforcement agency would notify someone of an arrest warrant and then demand payment for the bond through gift cards or cash. 

The Kane County Sheriff’s Office is collaborating with the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office and other local entities to investigate this scam. Please stay vigilant and be cautious of anyone claiming to be a police officer without proper identification.
