Kane County Animal Control Pet of the Week - Tortellini
“I hope people don't take kittens on a whim, like they would a toy, then not care for them." – Shirley Rousseau Murphy, author of Joe Grey cat mystery novels
She might be a little standoffish at first, but if you approach her carefully, easily, then she's all in. Then she'll allow you to rub her face, pet her and climb all over you.
She…is a Domestic Shorthair that wears a tortoiseshell coat, which is why she's called Tortellini. Tortie for short, of course, which is her coloring, not her breed. The black and orange fur with her large yellow eyes gives her an air of mystery, as though she holds secrets to another world, a world where felines thrive and prosper and none become strays.
Tortellini is only 7-months-old. She came to KCAC along with several other of her siblings who also were named after pasta. Personalities abound in this family of stray felines, one as different as the next, but it's Tortellini that shows her true assertive nature.
Not one to go along with the crowd, she likes her alone time and will find places where she can have her own space. When she's ready to join the group, she's raring to go and will move the fun along, jumping, running and hiding, as any kitten does. She plays like she's all in and when it's time to rest, she ready to receive the pets and scratches from her available caretakers.
Tortellini is still so young, still finding her way in this big old world. She's not a trusting kitten, at least not in the beginning of her interactions, but she will quickly move to you as her best friend—depending on the moment in time.
Tortellini is a kitten stuffed with so much personality it will be exciting to see the full-on adult cat she will become.
