The Kane County Clerk's office serves as the official record keeper for births, marriages and deaths that occur in Kane County. The Clerk's office provides copies of these documents for eligible individuals upon request.

A breakdown of the data based on these vital records from 2025 shows three clear trends:

  • Births continue a long-term decline, dropping from 8,787 in 2010 to 5,925 in 2025. While births still peak in spring and summer, overall numbers are down across every month.
  • Deaths totaled 3,713 in 2025. After remaining steady for years, deaths spiked in 2020–2022 and have since declined, but still remain slightly higher than pre-2020 levels, with seasonal peaks in winter months.
  • Marriage licenses held steady over time, dropped sharply in 2020, then rebounded slowly—reaching 3404 in 2025. Summer and early fall remain the most popular times to marry.

Overall, the data reflects declining births, elevated post-pandemic death levels, and a strong resurgence in marriages.
