Kane County Voting Options for the April 1, 2025 Consolidated Election

Kane County Connects Staff - Kane County Clerk's Office 3/4/2025 11:00AM

Kane County Clerk John A. Cunningham has announced that the Kane County Clerk’s Office will begin mailing Vote by Mail (VBM) ballots this Friday for the April 1 Consolidated Election to approximately 37,500 registered voters who submitted applications for a permanent VBM ballot to the County Clerk’s Office.

Clerk Cunningham said, “All Vote by Mail ballots follow strict chain-of-custody procedures. At every stage of the process, a bipartisan team of Democratic and Republican election judges is present to oversee and handle the ballots. Whether ballots are being produced, processed, or verified, a bipartisan team of election judges is doing the work. The ballots are not opened until a bipartisan team of election judges has verified that the signer is a registered voter and that the signature on the ballot matches the voter’s signature in the voter registration system. We value security and integrity as much as we value accessibility and transparency in elections.”

Voters who wish to apply for permanent Vote by Mail status can submit an application either online or on paper. Voters who wish to apply for a VBM ballot only for the April 1 election can apply online at clerk.kanecountyil.gov/Elections/Pages/Vote-by-Mail.aspx. Voters who wish to apply for permanent VBM status and receive a ballot for every election must complete a paper application, which can be found online at the same link, and return it to the Clerk’s Office.

Voters can sign up for the Clerk’s ballot tracking system, Ballottrax, at https://votekane.ballottrax.net/voter/ to receive notifications of when their VBM ballot was mailed and received by the Clerk’s Office.

The April 1 Consolidated Election features municipal and local offices such as Mayor/Village President, City Council/Village Board, School Board, Park District, Library Board, Community College Board, Fire District, and more. These local offices make up a large portion of the local governments affecting the daily lives of Kane County residents.

Personalized sample ballots will be available once the February 25 Consolidated Primary results have been certified. Voters can enter their last name and address at clerk.kanecountyil.gov/Elections/Pages/Voter-Search.aspx to find all candidates that will appear on their ballot.

Early Voting will be available from March 7-14, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., only at the following County Clerk’s Office locations:

  • 719 S. Batavia Ave., Bldg. B in Geneva
  • 5 E. Downer Place, Suite F in Aurora

On March 17, Early Voting expands to include 25 sites, including night and weekend hours at select locations. A complete list of all Early Voting sites, dates, and times is available at clerk.kanecountyil.gov/Elections/Pages/Early-Voting.aspx.

The Clerk’s Office has developed innovative ways to serve the public, including expanding early voting, establishing a call center to resolve Election Day issues, developing a Voter Outreach Program to increase voter registration and early voting, enhancing election security and transparency, and improving technology.
