​Kane County is accepting applications for the position of Kane County Board Member for District 7 in Aurora. This vacancy is due to the resignation of former Board Member Monica Silva.

The position is an elected office with duties outlined in the Illinois Counties Code (55 ILCS 5/1-1001 et seq.) and the Kane County Code.

Under Illinois law, a vacancy on the Kane County Board must be filled by appointment of the Chair of the County Board, with the advice and consent of the County Board. The appointee is required to be a member of the same political party as the person the appointee succeeds (10 ILCS 5/25-11). The appointee will serve the remainder of the term, which expires in December 2026.

All Kane County Board Members also serve as members of the Kane County Forest Preserve District Commission.

To be eligible for appointment, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a member of the Democratic Party
  • Be a registered voter
  • Reside within District 7 ([View District 7 Map] here)​
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have been a resident of Kane County for at least one year
