Nearly 200 Pets Find New Beginnings Through Kane County Animal Control

Kane County Connects Staff 1/14/2026 9:00AM

As 2026 begins, Kane County Animal Control (KCAC) is reflecting with gratitude on a successful year made possible by the continued support of adopters, rescue partners, and the community.

In 2025, 115 pets found their forever homes through adoption, including 76 cats and 39 dogs, each beginning a new chapter with a loving family. In addition, 83 cats and dogs were transferred to rescue organizations, providing another vital pathway to safety and care. Those transfers included 53 cats and 30 dogs.

KCAC recognizes this was a team effort from everyone who explored adoption, to the rescue organizations that stepped up to help pets in need of additional support and to the community members whose encouragement and involvement made these outcomes possible.

Residents interested in adoption are reminded that no appointment is needed. Adoptions are first come, first served during the following public hours:

  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

  • Tuesday, Thursday: 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

  • Saturday: 9 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
