Generous Gift Creates Community-Friendly Dog Water Fountain at Kane County Animal Control
Kane County Animal Control (KCAC) has completed installation of a new dog water fountain, made possible by a generous $10,000 donation from the estate of the late Sylvia Snyder, who passed away in 2023.
The fountain, located outside the KCAC facility at 4060 Keslinger Road in Geneva near a popular trail connected to Peck Farm, provides a convenient spot for dogs and their owners to cool off and hydrate. Staff frequently brought out bowls of water for visiting pups, but the new fountain offers a permanent solution.
KCAC Executive Director Brett Youngsteadt said the gift allows the agency to give back to the community in a meaningful way. “We are thrilled to create a space where both pets and their owners can enjoy a break while walking the trail,” he said.
The fountain will open annually from Memorial Day to Labor Day, similar to Kane County parks.
A plaque at the fountain honors Sylvia Snyder’s generosity, ensuring her legacy continues to benefit the community and its four-legged residents.
KCAC is looking forward to visitors stoppoing by to enjoy the new addition when it opens for the season next year.
