Kane County Animal Control Pet of the Week - Frida
“As my cat would say, all hours are good for sleeping." – Jose Saramago, Portuguese Nobel Prize author
Everyone agrees! Frida, a 3-year-old spayed female, brown tabby Domestic Shorthair, is freakin' adorable!
At times loveable and at other times exuding cati-tude, Frida is a mixture of “kind-of's" and feline wile. With her big green eyes and shades of beautiful brown fur, Frida is quite the looker. She arrived at KCAC with her sister, Sushi. Both were owner-surrendered back in June due to an aggressive dog in the home.
Calling Frida a social butterfly is right on the money because she'll do anything to gain attention, even running up to everyone who comes in the cat room so she can get her pets and scratches.
But wait! Even though she “kind of" loves getting petted, there comes that moment when she doesn't because she's kind of over-stimulated. She will let you know when it's too much and when she's “kind of" had enough.
Frida doesn't approach life like some other cats. For example, when she meows, she sticks her tongue out which can cause her to sound as though she has a small lisp. She might be a little overweight, but that just means there's definitely more to love. Getting her on a good feeding regimen will be an important part of her continued health.
Although she's not a big fan of other felines except for her sister, she mainly will tolerate them. It all depends on her mood or the placement of the sun, moon and stars and if trees grow in forests because some days she sometimes can be a little confrontational. For this reason, it's suggested that she probably needs to get adopted into a home with no other felines.
It may take a cat life or two to know what Frida is thinking or why she is the way she is, but there's no denying that she will make a wonderful addition for just the right family!
