Imagine holding a tiny kitten in your arms, so sweet, so naïve, so wide-eyed with wonder. This little baby is totally reliant on you for all of its care and nurturing, as well as its playtime.
As the kitten begins to struggle to get down and resume playing, you give it a brief kiss on top of its head and then place him back on the floor.
This cat’s name is Doc. He’s a neutered 3-month-old brown and black Domestic Shorthair and he’s absolutely adorable!
Just in case you might not know, Doc is not a real doctor, nor does he play one on TV. He’s not part of the Seven Dwarfs, either. He’s only a little kitten but he’s a little kitten with some mighty strong super powers such as healing your heart or maybe bringing a little light into your life, figuratively speaking, of course.
He might appear a little shy at first meeting, but after a millisecond, he’s sitting in your lap and head-butting you in your face. More social than some of the other kittens, Doc likes to stare at you before he runs off to play. It’s almost as though he wants to make sure you’re staying where you are and you’ve got his back. At the end of the day, Doc will take his time to cuddle with you, sit on your lap and purr his cute kitten engine.
All he needs is a forever home where he can grow and flourish into the sweet and wonderful adult feline that we know he is. Do you have room in your heart and home for Doc?
Kane County Animal Control (KCAC) Update: Congratulations to Butch, the 3-month-old Domestic Shorthair featured in the Pet of the Week from last week. Butch found his forever home and is extremely happy telling his new forever family just how kittens spend their days. We’re so happy for you, Butch!

“A cat can make you feel well rested when you’re tired or turn a rage into a calm just by sitting on your lap. His very nearness is a healing song.” – Shannon Hale, American author, young adult fantasy.
