Kane County Animal Control Pet of the Week - Winn Dixie
“Acquiring a dog may be the only opportunity a human ever has to choose a relative." – Mordecai Wyatt Johnson, American educator & pastor
Humans have let her down time and time again and, yet, she approaches each person who comes to see her with the wag of her tail and a soft gaze as she looks into their eyes. She doesn't seem to have a negative bone in her body.
Oh, Winn Dixie, where did you come from?
In your brief 1-year or so of life, did you have a family that cared for you or did they abandon you at an early age so you had to fend for yourself? With such beautiful brown eyes, how did you wind up as a stray? Better yet, how can you be so sweet and so cute at the same time?
She's pretty good on a leash, too, but she still has a propensity to jump, so she will definitely need some training. Also, her guiding system isn't the best because she oftentimes will wander under people's feet while her leash is still attached to her collar.
She prefers squeaky toys, but doesn't really play with them. She prefers bringing them to whoever is in the room so they can squeak them for her.
Winn Dixie seems to like other dogs. In meeting them for the first time, she gets a little excited as she lays down and then rolls over onto her back so the other dog can sniff her.
No matter what her backstory is, or what her DNA is or where she came from, Winn Dixie is a once in a lifetime pup that seems to have all the right moves. She's loving, sweet and ready to fulfill her true potential as a best friend to a very special forever family.
