Kane County Animal Control Pet of the Week - Daffy's New Family

KCAC's Adorable, Adoptable Pet of the Week is written by Tecla Metzel of Kane County Animal Control. 3/9/2025 10:00AM

We kick off this week's Kane County Pet of the Week with great news—Daffy has been adopted!  Each week, Kane County Connects, with the storytelling talents of Tecla Metzel, highlights a pet in need of a fur-ever home. Today, we celebrate Daffy, an energetic and adorable mixed-breed dog who found his forever family—complete with a built-in brother to chase and share squeaky toys with. It's truly the best of both worlds!

But many pets are still waiting for a second chance, including Robert—so we’re featuring him again.

Robert arrived at Kane County Animal Control looking a little rough around the edges. Like an aging prizefighter who’s taken one too many hits, this 3-year-old black domestic shorthair carries the scars of life on the streets—scavenging for food and fending off other animals. While he may not be the most conventionally handsome feline, his personality is what truly shines—if only someone would take the time to see it.   robeet1.jpg

Robert loves people. The moment someone enters the cat room, he runs straight up, claiming them as his own and showering them with cuddles. He enjoys being petted, though he can get a little overstimulated—if that happens, he’ll give a gentle nip as a signal. He also has a habit of licking people for what feels like forever—at least until the sun goes down! And if given the chance, he’ll happily climb all over his visitors just to get closer.

While Robert adores human companionship, he isn't a fan of other pets. He would do best in a home where he’s the only cat, and while we’re unsure how he’d react to dogs, his street instincts might make cohabitating with one too stressful.

Robert wears his battle scars with pride—they’re proof of his survival. Now, he just needs a safe and loving forever home.
