Kane County Animal Control Pet of the Week - Eska

“Everybody should have a shelter dog. It's good for the soul." – Paul Shaffer, Canadian musician, former David Letterman's musical director, band leader

It doesn't seem possible that little Eska could have been a stray.

She's too cute, too wide-eyed, too adorable to have been wandering the streets on a Wednesday night in May, but there she was, all by herself, alone.    eska1.jpg

This little black and white Siberian Husky mix is about 1-year-old. She walks easily on a leash with no pulling, or jumping. Of course, since she probably has had very little training or socialization, her new family will need to work with her on learning new commands. She's at the perfect age and has all the energy in the world!

Typical of a husky, she likes to have her opinions known, no matter who is in the room. She will tell whoever wants to listen that she definitely likes stuffed toys and her meals should be on time! And snacks are always good!

She definitely likes the company of other dogs, especially the males. When she's in the company of a male dog, she will get a little frisky and start spinning, almost as though she's on a fashion runway showing off her new coterie.

Eska is very good at flashing everyone her baby blues, especially when she wants attention, and she would like attention all the time, please!     eska2.jpg

She sheds quite a lot which is pretty typical of the husky breed, so hopefully her new family has an industrial vacuum cleaner. Eska is bright, intelligent, playful and willing to learn everything she needs to learn if she's given positive reinforcement,

More than anything else, Eska will be a wonderful addition to anyone's family!

KCAC Pupdate

Congratulations to Myla, the 7-month-old Cane Corso-mix with the sad, expressive eyes. Myla's happiness at getting adopted was not contained for one minute. She practically pulled her new dad out of the building and into the parking lot. Acting like a mini- steamroller, she couldn't wait to take her freedom walk! We were all so happy for her and we can't wait to get updates on how she is settling into her new home!
