Kane County Board Proclaims June 2025 as Pride Month
The Kane County Board officially recognized June 2025 as Pride Month during its recent meeting, underscoring the county’s dedication to diversity, inclusion, and equal rights for all residents.
Board Member Michael Linder read an official proclamation and presented it to Gwyn Ciesla, president of Aurora Pride.
The proclamation acknowledged the contributions of the LGBTQ+ community.
Citing Illinois’ longstanding support for LGBTQ+ rights—including being one of the first states to host a Pride parade and to advance marriage equality—the proclamation also highlighted local organizations such as Belong Fox Valley, Elgin Pride, and Aurora Pride for their continued advocacy and community-building efforts.
“The Kane County Board recognizes that the commitment to equality must be ongoing,” the proclamation reads. “We must continue to eliminate discrimination, promote understanding, and ensure that every person can live authentically and without fear.”
