Kane County Emergency Volunteer Responds to Hurricane Disaster Call
For 14 years, Rich Kroman has been a volunteer with the Kane County Office of Emergency Management (OEM). Recently, his skills and commitment took him to North Carolina, where he was deployed on September 26 to assist in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.
Kroman is a seasoned FEMA reservist and advanced emergency medical technician. He was initially sent to Asheville to work with search and rescue operations. He is now providing medical services at local shelters in North Carolina and responding to 911 calls throughout the area.
Here in Kane County, he volunteers to assist in coordinating medical and safety operations for OEM.
"We are incredibly proud of Rich for stepping up to help in this crisis," said Kane County OEM Director Scott Buziecki. "We are looking forward to his return and to hear his stories and about his experiences. It's an opportunity for all of us to learn and grow. Rich truly represents the strength and dedication of our team here in Kane County," said Buziecki.
Kroman is expected to continue his work in North Carolina through the end of the month.
