Kane County Animal Control (KCAC) is set to enhance its facility with an upgraded outdoor pet water fountain, thanks to generous donations from the estates of two devoted animal advocates. The first $10,000 donation came from the estate of Sylvia Snyder earlier this year, and the second $10,000 gift came from the estate of Sharon K. Zagorce this past November.

The Kane County Board approved a budget adjustment to allow KCAC to use these unrestricted funds for improvements at its facility at 4060 Keslinger Road in Geneva. KCAC decided to create a community-friendly amenity by installing a dog water fountain just outside the facility, located near a popular trail connected to Peck Farm, which is often a stopping point for dog walkers.

With the second donation, KCAC hopes to install a canopy, offering shade for four-legged visitors and their owners as they enjoy the new water fountain, which is set to be officially activated this spring.

“These thoughtful contributions from Ms. Snyder and Ms. Zagorce's estates reflect a project designed with the community in mind, benefiting the animals in our care as well as the pets stopping by on a walk with their owners, enhancing the experience for all who visit our facility," said KCAC Director Brett Youngstead.
