Kane County Announces $1 Million Plus for Local Projects from Riverboat Fund

Kane County Connects Staff 10/9/2024 1:00PM

The Kane County Board has approved $1,019,800 in community reinvestment grants to support a variety of local initiatives, including child development, music, outdoor amenities, history projects, food insecurity, and homelessness.

A total of 32 projects will receive grants ranging from $3,000 to $73,000. These funds are sourced from the Grand Victoria Riverboat Fund, established by the Kane County Board in 1997 through an agreement with the operators of the Grand Victoria Riverboat, which contributes a percentage of its annual net operating income to the County.

Over time, this fund has been instrumental in advancing educational, environmental, and economic development efforts in the region.

Each year, project submissions are solicited and evaluated by the Kane County Riverboat Committee, whose recommendations are then reviewed and approved by the full County Board.
