Kane County Residents Eligible for New Round of Rebates for Electric Vehicles

The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) has announced a new round of funding, offering rebates up to $4000 to Kane County residents who purchase an electric vehicle. Applications will open from October 28th to January 31st, or when the IEPA exhausts the $14 million budgeted for this fiscal year. 
 
How to Qualify for the Rebate

  • You must purchase either a new or used electric vehicle that costs $80,000 or less;
  • The vehicle must be purchased from a dealership licensed by the Illinois Secretary of State;
  • You must be the owner of the vehicle at the time the rebate is issued AND retain ownership for a minimum of 12 months;
  • You must apply for the rebate within 180 days of the purchase date.
        • ​The electric vehicle cannot be rented or leased;
        • The electric vehicle cannot be purchased from an out-of-state dealership;
        • Plug-in hybrid vehicles do not qualify for this rebate.

 
Income Limits
There are income limits that determine how much of the rebate you qualify for. If your income level, dependent on your family size, is at or below the limit, you qualify for the rebate:
