Illinois 47 Closing at Rail Crossing in Elburn May 1

The Illinois Department of Transportation will be making repairs to the Union Pacific Railroad crossing on Illinois 47 (Main Street), between Lincoln Highway (Illinois 38) and Keslinger Road, in Elburn, will require a full closure starting, weather permitting, 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 1.

A posted detour will direct motorists to Lincoln Highway, Keslinger and Anderson roads. The work is expected to be completed by 5 p.m. Friday, May 10.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to detour signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
