There have been questions about alternative routes to Hall Quarry Beach due to the ongoing construction on Water Street. Here are the suggested routes for pedestrians and bicyclists from the City of Batavia and the Batavia Police Department:
From the north:
- Follow the sidewalk along either side of Route 31 to Union Avenue, turn left, and proceed to the Quarry. A crossing guard will be present at the Route 31 and Union Avenue intersection during Quarry hours.
From the east:
- Take Wilson Street or First Street west to Route 31, turn left, then left again on Union Avenue, and proceed to the Quarry.
From the east on the Fox River Bike Trail:
- Cross the Fox River at the Clark Island bridges, turn right on Shumway Avenue to First Street, then left on First Street to Route 31. Turn left on Route 31, follow the sidewalk to Union Avenue, turn left, and proceed to the Quarry.
Important Note:
- DO NOT use Water Street from Main Street to Union Avenue. It is an active construction zone and dangerous.
Recommendation for Bicyclists:
- Dismount and walk your bicycles on sidewalks along Route 31 as they may become crowded.
