Eun K. Yoon Appointed 16th Judicial Circuit Associate Judge in Kane County
The Sixteenth Judicial Circuit (Kane County) is proud to announce the appointment of its newest Associate Judge, Eun K. Yoon, effective (January 29, 2024). Receiving the most votes cast by the Circuit Judges of the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit, Yoon was selected to fill the vacant position left by the retirement of Judge Marmarie J. Kostelny in December 2023. Yoon said of hearing the news she was elected to serve as Associate Judge, “Over my years as an Assistant Public Defender, I have gained profound respect for the 16th Circuit Judiciary. I am deeply grateful to be part of the judges who dedicate themselves to public service. It is a tremendous honor and privilege for the opportunity to serve the community of Kane County."
Eun K. Yoon, J.D.: DePaul University, College of Law, Chicago, Illinois, 2002; admitted to practice law in 2002; Ms. Yoon is currently serving as a Senior Supervising Assistant Public Defender in the Kane County Public Defender's Office, Criminal Defense/Litigation; Prior to this, she did a Federal Court Judicial Clerk Externship with Honorable Judge Guzman, U.S. District Court, Northern District, Illinois, 2001. Ms. Yoon was admitted to The Order of the Coif in 2002 and is a member of various legal associations including The Supreme Court of the U.S. Bar, Illinois Supreme Court - Character & Fitness Committee, Illinois Public Defender Association, and the Kane County Bar Association; She is also Co-Chair of the Women in the Law Committee, Kane County Bar Association; She actively contributes to local and state law publications, participates as a presenter at professional associations and volunteers in local events.
