Elburn officially has its first village flag, which made its debut on December 6, during the Elburn Christmas Stroll, flying proudly outside the Elburn American Legion Post #630. The winning design was created by Dan Krall.      Elburn Flag 1.jpeg

The initiative was led by Village Trustee Chris Hansen in honor of former Elburn Trustee Bill Grabarek, who long dreamed of the village having an official flag. “Huge thanks to all community members for helping create a piece of Elburn history, and to the Elburn staff for handling the contest and everything associated with the process,” Hansen said.

The community response was strong, with a total of 60 submissions, including 28 from children, all reflecting the creativity and spirit of Elburn residents.

The flag will eventually fly permanently at Elburn Village Hall once construction is completed, as well as at all Elburn government buildings.

The community flag design contest encouraged residents, artists, and designers to submit original designs that reflect Elburn’s unique character. Submissions were asked to be simple, meaningful, and incorporate the official Elburn “E” symbol. The winning design was unveiled during the Christmas Stroll, bringing Grabarek’s long-held vision to life.

The new flag will be officially raised in spring 2026, coinciding with the completion of the Village Hall and Police Department expansion.
