Kane County Goes Green For Veterans

Kane County is joining counties across the nation in Operation Green Light to show support for veterans. Until Veterans Day on Nov. 11, Kane County's Government Center and Third Street Courthouse in Geneva will be illuminated in green to let veterans know that they are seen, appreciated, and supported. The Kane County Board approved a proclamation on October 8, 2024, recognizing Operation Green Light.
PROCLAIMING OPERATION GREEN LIGHT FOR VETERANS IN KANE COUNTY, ILLINOIS
WHEREAS, the residents of Kane County have great respect, admiration, and the utmost gratitude for all the men and women who have selflessly served our country and this community in
the Armed Forces; and
WHEREAS, Kane County seeks to honor individuals who have made countless sacrifices for freedom by placing themselves in harm’s way for the good of all; and
WHEREAS, veterans continue to serve our community in the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, AMVETS, Marine Corps League, Vietnam Veterans of America, Navy Club,
and by serving as County Veterans Service Officers to help former service members access more than $170 million in federal veteran benefits in Kane County each year; and
WHEREAS, the County of Kane appreciates the sacrifices of our United States military personnel and believes specific recognition should be granted.
THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, with this designation, Green Light for Veterans, the Kane County Board hereby proclaims from October through Veterans Day, November 11, 2024 a time to salute and honor the service and sacrifices of our men and women in uniform transitioning from active service; and
BE IT FURTHER PROCLAIMED, that in observance of Operation Green Light, Kane County encourages its citizens in patriotic tradition to recognize the importance of honoring all
those who made immeasurable sacrifices to preserve freedom by displaying green lights in a window of their place of business or residence from November 4th through the 11th, 2024.
