Kane County Announces 2026 Campaign Sign Recycling Program

Kane County Connects Staff 3/18/2026 4:00AM

Kane County will once again host a campaign sign recycling program following the election, giving residents an easy and environmentally responsible way to dispose of plastic yard signs and metal stands.

Residents are encouraged to check with local candidates or campaign committees first to see if they plan to collect signs for reuse. If not, eligible signs may be dropped off at designated locations during the collection periods listed below.

The program accepts rigid plastic campaign signs made from corrugated polypropylene, typically about ¼-inch thick. Before dropping off materials, residents should separate the plastic signs from their metal stands and remove zip ties or other fasteners. Signs made from plastic film marked #4 (LDPE) cannot be recycled through this program but may be taken to store plastic bag drop-off locations for recycling.
