May 17 – Kane County Spring Shred & More
Location: 540 S. Randall Road, St. Charles, IL 60174
Time: 8:00 a.m. – Noon (Please do not arrive before 7:45 a.m., as it impedes setup.)
Cost: All stations and services are free for Kane County residents, except latex paint recycling (see Station 3 below).

What to Expect:
In addition to document shredding, the event features three recycling stations (see map for layout).

Station 1 – Helping Hands (Hoffman Estates, IL):

• Accepting clothing, shoes, textiles, small/decorative home goods, and books (See full list​ )

Station 2 – Hesed House Bicycle Ministry (Aurora, IL):

• Accepting bikes and bike accessories (helmets, locks, lamps, etc.)

Station 3 – ePaint Recycling (Battle Creek, MI):

• Accepting latex-based paints and coatings*

  • Pint can or smaller: $1 each

  • One-gallon can: $3 each

  • Two-gallon can: $5 each

  • Five-gallon bucket: $15 each

*Paint must still be liquid to be recycled. If it has dried out, dispose of it in your regular trash.
Oil-based paints and stains are considered household hazardous waste and are not accepted at this event (see our HHW page for disposal options​).
Aerosol/spray paint will also not be accepted here but can be dropped off year-round at our Fabyan Recycling Center for $1 per can.

Station 4 – Accurate Document Destruction (Elk Grove, IL):

• On-site secure document shredding by mobile shredding trucks
