End of Year Delays to Household Hazardous Waste Pickup Program

Kane County Connects Staff / Kane County Recycles 11/11/2024 1:00AM

Kane County’s longstanding household hazardous waste home pick-up program, serving the County’s northern six townships (excluding the City of Elgin), as well as the cities of Batavia and Geneva, the Village of South Elgin, Mill Creek, and Blackberry Township, is currently experiencing delays due to funding issues. Residents with appointments scheduled for November are being contacted and rescheduled for December or January. Those calling to book appointments today may experience a longer-than-normal wait time.

The Kane County Recycling Program apologizes for this inconvenience and assures residents that the program will continue, with services anticipated to return to normal by spring of next year. For disposal needs that can’t wait, the Naperville Household Hazardous Waste Facility, located at 156 Fort Hill Drive in Naperville, is open every Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. and is free to all Illinois residents.

For questions, comments, or feedback about household hazardous waste disposal in Kane County, please email recycle@kanecountyil.gov or call 630-208-3841.
