Elburn Tornado Brings Number to Seven in Kane County in 12 Months

Crews from the National Weather Service (NWS) surveyed damage from a storm that moved through Kane County on June 23, 2024, and determined an EF-0 tornado with peak winds of 75 miles per hour touched down near Elburn at 10:37 p.m.
NWS says the tornado started just west of downtown Elburn, south of the railroad tracks where concentrated tree damage was found. Crop damage was noted in the vicinity of Anderson Road. Pockets of tree damage continued to just east of Pouley Road, just to the west of La Fox.
There was tree damage reported but no structural damage or injuries.
The tornado was on the ground for four minutes and covered 2.3 miles.
According to the Kane County Office of Emergency Management, this brings the total number of confirmed tornadoes in Kane County to seven in a 12-month period of time.
