Kane County's Veterans Assistance Commission Takes Top Honors for Service
Jesus Arteaga was nominated by the Kane County Veterans Assistance Commission for his unwavering commitment to the veterans of Kane County. Arteaga has been praised for his expertise as one of Illinois' few Certified Veteran Advocates, submitting disability claim applications on behalf of Kane County veterans, resulting in swift benefit delivery times. He is also commended for going above and beyond to secure benefits for veterans and their survivors.
One notable case highlighted by his colleagues involved Arteaga’s advocacy on behalf of a cognitively impaired veteran who had been awaiting benefits that were withheld in error. After Arteaga stepped in, the veteran was awarded the retroactive benefits he was due.
Arteaga is recognized for his diligence, thorough review, and exceptional service to Kane County’s veterans. He is the latest recipient of the Veterans Service Officer of the Year award, given by the Illinois Association of County Veterans Assistance Commissions. The Kane County Veterans Assistance Commission has received this top honor in three of the last four years – 2021, 2023, and 2024.
